Humidity:

Keeping the humidity in your home between 30-45% can help to improve your health and comfort, and is better for the house itself. However, too much humidity and humidity from seepage in crawlspaces and window and door seals can create problems far beyond window condensation.

The Problem:

Standing water and moisture create many potentially harmful health problems from mold and mildew as well as structural instabilities from rot and rust in your home’s substructure. These issues lead to very costly repairs if gone unchecked. Eventually humidity and the problems that accompany it will find a way into your living space contaminating your air.
In terms of your equipment, the heavier, moisture-laden air is harder for your AC unit to move, making it work harder for less cooling power. As the equipment is continually exposed to humidity it will begin drawing water into its more delicate and rust-prone inner workings.

Our Solution:

There are a number of possible culprits for in-home and system humidity. We check the entire system for proper sealing and ventilation techniques and evaluate water seepage problem areas. We also check for incorrectly installed or maintained drainage from heating and air conditioning units; this becomes problematic for the whole system, by allowing water to sit in the unit’s housing or improperly disposing of it into the surrounding area.

Our Follow up:

Once any seepage problems have been rooted out, it is then possible to fit your system with a humidifying unit to alleviate any residual problems.

Our Products:

Here are some of the products we might suggest for varying humidity issues:
To deal with your home's humidity problems, whether they be too much or too little humidity, we have a number of options that we can pursue depending on your preferences and budget. Our first choice would be one of our Honeywell Whole House Dehumidifier unit, a Trane 2-Stage AC unit, or a combination of the two, depending on the severity of the problem. To supplement this, a Trane Thermostat with humidity control can be a useful option.
