Air Quality:

On average we spend as much as 90% of our time indoors, as estimated by the EPA, which means the health issues that can stem from poor indoor air quality are now more prevalent than ever. And with a host of problems that can be causes for your home’s bad air, it is often the hardest problem to diagnose and treat.

The Problem:

Your home may be full of potential sources for "bad air." From poorly sealed windows, doors and wall joints, to pollen, dust or pet dander, and even to moist or leaky basements and substructures or decaying or molding building materials, there are any number of possible pollutants. These issues are not always easy to uncover; however, with a little persistence, much of the polluted air in your home can be filtered or otherwise conditioned to create a healthier home environment for you and your family.

Our Solution:

When dealing with poor air quality, the most important thing to do is determine the sources of the pollutants. In most cases, the solutions to these problems are controllable through humidity control and minimization of infiltration.
Many of the air pollutants can be caused by your current HVAC unit. Any leaks in the ventilation ductwork can pull bad air into your system, thereby recirculating it back through your home. Alternatively, it can draw in heavy, moist air from outside, thereby defeating the purpose of any filtration system you might have in place. Cleaning, sealing, or even replacing the existing ducting can significantly control the amount of air pollution within your home.
Secondly, much of the mold-prone humidity that your house collects can be linked to a leaky substructure or improperly sealed crawlspace, window or door. Fixing these problems through the use of proper sealing techniques or a dehumidifier, is another way to help safeguard your home against air-borne allergens.

Our Follow up:

Once we have gone through to eradicate the sources of indoor air pollution in your home, there is another step we can take to make sure that the air you are breathing is as clean as possible. By installing one of our Trane air cleaning systems, the amount of potentially harmful pollutants in your air are significantly reduced, house-wide.
